could you point me to some place in eric code where file dialogs are invoked and i"ll try to debug it ?

The error message is given by the Windows file dialog. Unfortunately I don't have WSL installed over here and eric6 hasn't been tested in there.

In latest version of WSL (windows subsystem for linux) its possible to access file system of linux environment via \\wsl$\ path (logically its located under network). From some reason eric (latest version) fails to open this path . error screenshot attached. For reference, it works from explorer and notepad
